Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

OOOps!

Yes, yesterday I did the unforgivable...spilled an entire cup of tea on the keyboard...
but of Rudy's computer, not even mine...sigh...

So the whole day was taken up with running around, trying to find solutions.

We began believing a complete re-buy was the only answer.
But then found a separate, stand-alone keyboard we could connect to his lap top
while I ordered a replacement keyboard on the phone.

Initial solution would have meant thousands of dollars.
If this works, and I don't know why it shouldn't:

stand-alone keyboard = $30.00
replacement keyboard (including shipping from Texas) = $30.00

He was so understanding, he didn't even yell at me,
but no more tea-breaks in the office,
now he has to come and join me in the kitchen.

Lemonade made from a lemon of a day,  I think.

  1. I've done that. I washed it under the tap and laid it upside down to dry and it worked fine. I even take sugar!

My husband sells keyboards that are completely sealed. You can spray it with disinfectant, which is what they originally were meant for (hospitals). Aparently a keyboard is a have nfor germs.

  2. Thanks for the hope Chania, but it's now day 2 and it's still acting up. How long did yours take to fully dry?

  3. Whoops!!! But on the positive side, it's the sign of a strong marriage when you can spill a cup of tea on your hubby's keyboard and not get yelled at!! :-)

I hope your $60 keyboard solution works out -- fingers crossed for you!!

  5. Speaks volumes about the man Kelly that he didn't get upset...not sure I would have been that kind had the tables been turned. He never ceases to make me want to be a better person.
I hope the replacement keyboard works too, right now, using the temporary one is making the entire computer do weird things. Only time will tell with this!

  6. Think yourself lucky it wasn't a Mac! Was that your photo? If so, I would not like to be your insurance agent - action shot!

  7. No Tom...I wouldn't have dared run for my camera...theh he would have yelled at me. Good point about the insurance, didn't even consider that!
I do have the really bad habit of drinking my tea while sitting at the computer...but now I hold the cup with two hands!
