Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

This week's photo challenge at
is Reflections

This photo was taken when we said a final goodbye to a sweet girl who had died of ovarian cancer.
She had asked for her ashes to be spread on a golf course in Florida, so
late one spring evening a few of her friends snuck onto a course
we all played together and sprinkled the last of her earthly remains around this pond.
The nice thing about this is that when we each go back to play this course,
we can give a silent nod to Nancy as we play the 5th hole.

  1. Not only is that a lovely photo but a very moving story too.

    Reflection both literally and figuratively.

  2. Beautiful picture, and such a touching thing you all did for your friend. The 5th hole is a very special place now :-)

P.S. A purple pashmina on your loveseat and purple cabbage in the garden count as decorating with purple -- welcome to the purple side!! :-)

  3. What a beautiful story! Thanks for sharing. The photograph is wonderful. :)

  4. A beautiful reflection and final resting place. olive♥

  5. I like that thought that you give her a nod. She would love that I am sure. Nice photo! Kit

  6. A beautiful way to honor a special friendship and a dear memory...very touching.

  7. J - that is such a beautiful picture an so poignant!

  8. It's a beautiful shot Jacqueline. Hope you were able to share copies with the girls who attended.

    Wishing you a lovely weekend.

BTW Hannah is gonna kill me when she sees my post :-0

  9. What a wonderful way to remember a special person in your lives. She still remains a part of your times together. A lovely picture that captures the love and sentiments of her friends.

Go on...make my day...
