Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

More Piggy's

This little Piggy goes to Prada

by Amy Allen

I just finished reading Chania's wonderful post over at Razmataz, about her gloomy day and how a photo of a pig had cheered her up. What is it about pigs that make us happy?

A while back when I was visiting my sister J., we happened upon this little book while spending a lovely afternoon together doing a little window shopping,

'This Little Piggy Goes to Prada: Nursery Rhymes for the Blahniik Brigade' by Amy Allen. It's a collection of traditional nursery rhymes that Allen has rewritten, and beautifully illustrated.

'This little piggy went to Prada
This little piggy went to Cannes
This little piggy went to Nobu
This little piggy went Nakkasan
An this little piggy went 'We we we we"
All the way home, because she had a fat bottom!'

You sing them along to the rythmn of the traditional rhyme

Twinkle, twinkle diamond ring.
In a blue box tied with a string.
Tiffany's new princess cut.
Twice the size of baby's butt.
Twinkle twinkle, show your spark
Can't change nappies in the dark!

and

There was a young woman who lived in her Choo's
Though she once had a house in smart Chelsea Mews.
So much on Jimmy
The house had to go
Along with her Amex and husband in tow!

J. and I sang out the entire book to ourselves while laughing hysterically at the same time. Going from one page onto the another just made it all the more funny. I have never laughed so much while out shopping!
It's a real fun book, and a tongue in cheek look at the craziness of designer labels. Unfortunately the book was the property of the store owner and wasn't for sale,
I wish she had been in her shop that afternoon to witness what fun she had provided
for J. and I from her little piggy book!

“Pussycat, pussycat, where have you been?
I’ve been to London to see McQueen,
Pussycat, pussycat, what did you there?
I bought the collection and kissed lots of air.”

    Ha! Can't stop laughing!
