Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

Thank You

This past 24 hours, my eldest daughter was admitted
to emergency (yes...there I was again) with an abscess on her kidney.
Thanks to antibiotics...she is now home, recovering from an affliction that without this treatment would have killed her.
I am eternally grateful for living in a post-anti-biotic world.

  3. What a roller coaster ride this week must have been for you dear Jacqueline. So relieved to hear your gorgeous girl is on the mend. We are so proud to call Howard Florey one of own. He was born & educated here & is an Alumni of the wonderful University of Adelaide. I often have a 'moment' when I hear people nominating TV or computers as the greatest invention of our times. For me it has always been penicillin & always will be.

  7. We often forget how grateful we should all be that we live in an age of anti-biotics, etc. It wasn't so long ago that medical intervention was equated with horror. All the best to your daughter. Cro.

  9. Scary time, but death averted. The marvels of modern life, indeed. Things we usually take for granted. Hope your daughter is well-healed, soon.

  11. It was a bit of an out of body experience that night in the ER. An eerily quiet and calm place...a lovely phiippina nurse with copper hair wearing too much perfume...an x-ray unit with no one in it but Lindsay and the tech...and ONE, count'em, ONE doctor.
Lindsay spent the night, and most of Thursday on a plastic covered cot in the laceration room hooked up to her super-juice. They sent her home at 5pm. I'm still trying to process it all...can only imagine what's going on in my girl's consciousness right now...

  12. Oh my goodness, thank heavens she's alright. What a scary and nerve wracking experience for the both of you. I'm so glad they figured it out and treated her properly, the miracles of modern science used to their best ability.
Hugs to you J...and to your precious daughter, may she heal quickly and soon.

  13. Jacqueline, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. My heart skipped a beat when I saw 'emergency'. I know that feeling well. You feel so helpless as there is nothing you can do but put your faith into the people around you. It sounds like you got to the right place in time. My heart and prayers go out to you both :)
