Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

LABOUR DAY!

My best friend loves Labour Day.

Not because of anything to do with celebration of the worker,
or the Labour Movement.

But because, for her, it's the beginning of a New Year.

Summer is winding down
(actually she hates that part).

Today is the Air Show,

which means it's the final day of the CNE
(Canadian National Exhibition)

(there will be lots of fireworks tonight!).

All the kiddies are headed back to school tomorrow.

So she buys herself a brand new journal,

a new note pad and pen

and so is set to begin planning her year.

Happy New Year Peti!

  1. Ah, distinctly I remember. The CNE, the Air Show, Fireworks. Staples of my "growing up" years in Toronto.
And, yes, Labour Day marks the beginning of autumn. With fireworks in River City. (As I've noted on my "Chrome" blog.)
For those who start their year in September, Happy New Year!

  5. I made friends with the chief pilot of the Snow Birds a while ago. We spent the evening drinking beer in the Grand Bend area. I expect he is retired now. Glad you are feeling better.

  8. I know all about the Jewish new year, the Chinese new year, and MY new year. But Peti's new year sounds quite special.

So happy new year Peti, and to all other Petis who, today, celebrate all the things you mentioned above.

My own new year starts on July 23.
