Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

My best friend loves Labour Day.

Not because of anything to do with celebration of the worker,
or the Labour Movement.

But because, for her, it's the beginning of a New Year.

Summer is winding down
(actually she hates that part).

Today is the Air Show,

which means it's the final day of the CNE
(Canadian National Exhibition)

(there will be lots of fireworks tonight!).

All the kiddies are headed back to school tomorrow.

So she buys herself a brand new journal,

a new note pad and pen

and so is set to begin planning her year.

Happy New Year Peti!

  1. Ah, distinctly I remember. The CNE, the Air Show, Fireworks. Staples of my "growing up" years in Toronto.
And, yes, Labour Day marks the beginning of autumn. With fireworks in River City. (As I've noted on my "Chrome" blog.)
For those who start their year in September, Happy New Year!

  2. nice to see another slice of another country!
    u feeling brighter sweetie?

  3. It is part of our heritage indeed Rob-Bear.

Yes, John I am...and thank you for asking darling. At some point, you just have to give your head a shake, don't you?

  4. How lovely, and so nice that you are feeling better, doldrums are not welcome but they come anyway.xx

  5. I made friends with the chief pilot of the Snow Birds a while ago. We spent the evening drinking beer in the Grand Bend area. I expect he is retired now. Glad you are feeling better.

  6. I love the thought of September being the beginning of a New Year...have a great one Peti.
It's been a busy weekend for to follow.
in fact it's been a couple of months of many changes...yet again!
I'm going to join our friend Peti and bring out the journal and set a plan for my new year too! September to September sounds so much better.

  7. BL...Blue is my new favourite colour!
Tom...tried to find out who the line-up for the air show was headed by...but I guess they keep all of that info secret. Just hope they are all safe...and thanks sweetie for caring.
Yes V..Happy New Year to Us...Let's join Petra in ringing in the New Year. I know your weekend has been busy with the Bear, Miss Molly and Cake Boy... Can't wait to read the new post.

  8. I know all about the Jewish new year, the Chinese new year, and MY new year. But Peti's new year sounds quite special.

So happy new year Peti, and to all other Petis who, today, celebrate all the things you mentioned above.

My own new year starts on July 23.

  9. Interesting Cro...that's my birthday!
Petra will be thrilled to be so feted!

Go on...make my day...
