Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

All Things Aubergine

Pamela's sensuously written post at
about the onset of this month,  made me think about what
October represents to me...

What stands out in my sleepy-brain this morning is

aubergine...

please don't call it purple, this colour is so much more.

  1. I agree Jacqueline, so not purple! I love your collection of photos...
I was married in October and my bridesmaids wore aubergine...
I know there were raised eyebrows amongst them but I just loved it,
    still do!

  2. Oh dear, my aubergine plants are dripping with fruits.... I can't even give them away, and there's only so much one can eat! I must try harder.

  5. I love this colour J., but have to say I have never and I really mean never cooked an aubergine! Now that I think of it I find that very strange !
...the fries look delish and I'm feeling longings for those creuset pots.

  6. Cro...I think you need to give V. a few tips on the cooking of the aubergine! I've made the chips, although I cut them in disks rather than fries. On a baking sheet, brushed with olive oil, salt and pepper and under the broiler. You do have to keep an eye on them as they can burn easily.

  7. I love the aubergine - it is a cool relief from the hot oranges and red of Autumn.
    I wish I had a surplus of eggplant/aubergine, what a dilema!

  8. Pur . . . aubergine is such a delightful fall colour. A good wine grape colour. Perhaps Cro will try that.

  9. I agree Helen...what a dilemma! I had never though of a colour being a relief to the eye, but you are so right. All that vibrancy of summer and early autumn needs balancing.

    Interesting idea Rob-bear...Aubergine Wine!

  10. Jacqueline, how absolutely sensuously beautiful. I am not at all a purple person -- or perhaps I wasn't until today.

It is so lovely to know you. Your blog is stunning.

  11. J I like the colour Aubergine, although not too keen on the actual veg. Aubergine, plum, grape and all those gorgeous berries. Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog xx

  13. Oh aubergine how I love thee, let me count the ways. My very favourite are tiny pea aubergines perfect in a Thai vegetarian red curry, yummo!
