Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

Mea Culpa

I did something tonight that I think is
totally out of character.

We were sitting having drinks with friend in their garden,
I had a pork loin in the oven cooking away with potatoes
and brocollini ready to be sauteed...

...and I came in and called Rudy for dinner...

I didn't invite my neighbours, my friends, to join us

WHAT WAS I THINKING?

I let my ego get in front of my heart.

I allowed myself, for that nano-heartbeat to consider...

"IS IT GOOD ENOUGH?
(isn't it always?)

DO I HAVE ENOUGH?"
(can't we make it enough?)

Stupid me...of course it's good enough...of course I have enough...

WHAT WAS I THINKING?

Not to be repeated!

  2. We all get mixed up-
    I know I do.
    If you need to,
    you can make it right.

    It will be OK.

  4. I'm not sure about your Pork Loin, but I do know that an average sized chicken can either feed 2 or 8, depending on what one does with it.

As for the taste; I'm sure it was perfect, otherwise you'd have told us!

  5. I've done that J. I want to have my new neighbors in Florida over, but I question my cooking...then again I have done every family dinner occasion for 25 years and they keep coming.!

I am sure your neighbors were happy to share a glass of wine, and they likely had no idea what you were cooking. I like this post as it makes me think.

  6. It was delicious Cro.
One of those stupid, wobbly moments when I let my ego get in the way of who I really am...and, not surprisingly, that never ends well.

  7. It's amazing how much unnecessary pressure we put on ourselves Chania...it really shouldn't and wouldn't have mattered what the food was like. It's really all about the extending of friendship.

  9. in my house that dinner would be described as gourmet!!!
I know you are more than generous with your hospitality...so I'm sure your neighbours didn't think you were being ungracious.
