Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

Maths!

I think this is brilliant.

had an idea when tutoring his young cousins in maths.

He took this idea and began The Khan Academy.
Watch the video...it's worth the twenty minutes of your life to see what this brilliant young man is doing.

And yes, I've signed up.

Being quite possibly the worst maths student ever at school,
I am taking one hour a day to fill this huge 'swiss cheese hole' in my education.
Even at 50+++

I am so excited!

  2. Hi Jacqueline! You are right, this is brilliant. Just had a look at it and I'm inspired! Maths was my worst subject but I always thought someday I might figure it out. I might give this a go! Thanks for sharing!

  3. I love mth, and my mind thinks in numbers and balance. However, the past year or so, I am finding that I am not as quick as I once was. Maybe I could benefit from this also.

    1. SOAC-M I have always been envious of people to whom maths came naturally. I struggle, even with the basic concepts.

  4. My schoolboy Maths has afforded me a reasonable life so far, so I think I might call it a day. Strangely, I was quite good at algebra and geometry, but not so hot on ordinary maths. Algebra was logic, geometry was visual, but Maths was calculation; not my thing!

    1. Cro, I think mathmatics forms the basis of life. Divine proportion! I do well in the language/creative concepts area but the mathmatical/logistics side is definitely lacking. I long to fix this.
