Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

Man vs Nature

"If you've listened to the television or radio news over the past couple of days, you will have heard terms such as  'SNOWMAGEDDON', 'UGLY DAY', 'STORM WARNING', 'TREACHEROUS CONDITIONS' advising one to 'STAY HOME' and "NOT TO VENTURE OUTDOORS UNLESS YOU HAVE TO' being screamed at us.  And yet, if you do dare to venture out all you will hear is the barely audible sound of snowflakes gently wafting down from a dove-grey soft sky. To be sure, it is cold, and wet, and driving must be done with attention and focus, but aren't we better to move with the rhythm of nature instead of beating up against it?  This approach of alarm with predictions of doom seems so indignantly confrontational.  Instead of wrestling against the wind, try one day standing with body relaxed, arms and heart wide open, embracing this world; far less exhausting."JP

thank you pinterest for the lovely images.

  1. Jacqueline, I believe we live in a region near one another. I am in Southern Ontario @ Oakville.
When it is a big snowfall I love to sleep with the curtains open and find myself waking in the night to peek at the window. The snowfall muffles all of the other outside noises and it's so peaceful...... Well, until the shoveling begins.

Take a cup of something warm and sit by the window. Enjoy this tranquil snowy day.

    1. I'm in Niagara-on-the-Lake Katherine, so we are having the same kind of weather day. I love it when the snow falls like this, even though I have to leave for work soon! LOL!

  2. A day to enjoy - when you don't have to travel. J, your pictures are gorgeous - I love the bottom one of the little girl and the camel laughing together. We are enjoying our time at home - radiotherapy treatments all over :)

So glad you are on the other side of that hill...now let the healing begin!

  3. Dear Jacqueline,
We are getting the snow now, but it should not be more than 5 or 6 inches when it is done. However, I know others are getting hit much harder and I hope all will be OK. The good thing is that it is the weekend and the majority of people will be home and there will be many who will have a good time playing in it tomorrow. I went out on my deck about an hour ago and it was not too cold, there was no wind, and it was just beautiful. You are absolutely right, make the most of what you have, and embrace the moment.

    1. We have had a ton! Usually winter brings the snow in small accumulations, but not this time. Thank goodness for snow ploughs (and the people who operate them).

  4. I just heard that in Boston (US) they are expecting a metre of snow. We had a tiny dusting here yesterday, but it soon disappeared. Roll on Spring.

    1. We haven't been hit quite as hard as Boston Cro...haven't had quite the winds that they did - but certainly our share of snow. The banks are sitting at least waist high!

  5. Being flexible in life is less exhausting.. but I do pray for the safety of those who have to travel in the snow and ice and for the emergency services that they will be kept safe. Hope you have a peaceful weekend. x

    1. On the road to Toronto today, but I am confident the road crews have been out on the highway and it is cleared and salted. The weather forecast for the next few days is bright and sunny, so I'm sure Mother Nature will take care of some of the melting.
