Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

My Cup Runneth Over

"full-on day today.  House, work, cooking...still trying to process it all.  I love every part of it, just want to be able to slow down and not feel compelled all the time.  It's interesting to be in the office and hear how everyone just wants to 'get out of here', to 'not have to be here', all the while thinking 'this is cool'.  I like what I do, I like who I work with.  However...at home right now sitting with my glass of wine, contemplating a kitchen sink full of dishes and the washing machine yelling at me from down the hall; perhaps a little less of everything would work too..." 1. Maybe it's time to sit and just watch the water tumbling over a waterfall for a while (if there is one nearby).

    1. Sounds like a perfect prescription Cro...will have to wait a couple of days though, more of the same for a little while yet!

  2. J, mine too. And I think Cro's got it right - those reflections of sky, sea and boat are so beautiful - too good to miss.

    1. Just about telling oneself to slow down I bit I guess.
Discipline in that area never was my strong suit!

  3. And for all of us in the same boat (not the one on the reflecting pond), it would help to know what "slow down" meant. We have only one speed--full speed--most of the time.

    1. Isn't that the truth HA! Last day of working today and then four days off. The house needs a 'top to toe', but I think I am giving myself the gift of a day of doing nothing tomorrow!

    2. Bask, ease, flow are fun words to roll around in on a do-nothing day.

  4. I find it slightly amusing that whenever I decide to try to take things just a little easier that something else will invariably go awry. The dryer has now decided to not work right. The upside is that it is easier to fold hung socks because they are already in pairs instead of being stuck to other laundry!
