Beauty in the Ordinary
This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl
That's just beautifully done Jacqueline.
ReplyDeleteHave you had personal experience of a death by a non seat belt wearer, Jacqueline?
ReplyDeleteNo, thank God Tom, I have not. I just feel driving is one of those things people do so automatically and often mindlessly it's fraught with potential danger. Put winter weather and holiday partying in the mix and wearing a seatbelt is the first principle of self-protection.
ReplyDeleteMy brother was killed by a drunk driver. He was not in a seat belt as he was in an old pick up truck that did not have seat belts. He was thrown out of the truck and pretty much died on impact with the road. A seat belt might have saved him however the drunk killed him.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that, Olive. It has been compulsory to wear seat belts here in the UK for many years now. I was just surprised that you needed that sort of advert where you are, Jacqueline. Anyway, have a safe, sound and good time this winter.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry too Olive. I hope this post hasn't caused you pain.
ReplyDeleteTom...actually this is a UK commercial (see www.embracethis.co.uk). But regardless, where ever we live, and drive, we all need reminding from time to time to stay with the program.
Superb way of putting it ....I could drive without one on xx
ReplyDeleteI wanted to say thank you for entering my Christmas give away on my blog, and for the most delicious recipe you are very kind to do that xxx
Good luck

ReplyDeleteJ thanks for putting that video up. I cannot imagine why people don't wear seat belts. We always do, always have!
ReplyDeleteNo J, I am fine. I will never forget him. I was proud of my parents who forgave the 21yo who killed him. He served three years and was released. Always a seatbelt for us too Molly!
ReplyDeleteSuch an amazing and touching video...I've seen it before and it tears me up everytime...so well done.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry dear Olive for your loss...drunk drivers are truly the worst kind of driving danger out there. ♥
xo J~
Let's just all be safe...okay?
ReplyDeleteHello Jaqueline....!
ReplyDeleteA timely reminder indeed though a sad relection on our society that we need an advertisement for it....I wish there WAS more advertising though geared towards using your phone or holding your GPS while driving....!
I hope you're having a WONDERFUL week Lovey....!
Cheers from Oz,
Tamarah :o)
Interesting point you make Tamarah about GPS. We have one and I don't think I have ever felt so distracted driving the car since getting the darn thing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this reminder, Jacqueline!
