Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

Come On Summer!

Today, I...

oiled the teak garden furniture...

oiled and conducted minor repairs to
my Thai Spirit House...

took the rust off my quirky (rusty) iron
bits that go in the garden

(thanks neighbour John for loaning me that
machiney thingy that made taking the rust off a lot
easier than doing it with a wire brush)

spray-painted same...

Split some hostas and spread them a little around the garden...

took down my wreath from the front door...

because mama Robin keeps trying to build her nest there.

found this...

checkerboard flower (courtesy the birds I think).

  3. Love the checkerboard florwer. I have never seen one before.

Getting my gardens ready also. Sure is a lot of work and I said I was cutting down this year. Funny, no one believed me (because I say it every year). However, these old bones are having trouble getting up (down is easy)so maybe life with dictate how much I will actually do.

I know, I know, I've been naughty and have not been around for awhile, and my darling sister J., has been carrying the load! Tks Sis.
    I have missed you all!
Time to catch up, so I just posted a poem by my new fav poet...David Whyte.
and not to be picky...but the header photo is of a plant called Soloman's Seal, they are blooming now in my garden under the shade of my maple tree, I just love them.

  5. Well, you certainly are ready for spring and summer. All looks grand!

We got ready for spring and summer by changing homes. I'm trying to get accustomed to the apartment thing, but I think Bears are not made to fit well into these human filing cabinets.

  6. Summer? Well I opened our pool yesterday, just to find that a mouse had made a nest in the electrical gubbins box, chewed all the wires, and stopped it doing it's job. I now await the electrician whilst the water probably turns green!

  7. Swimming pools can be a nuisance Cro! I'm sure you'll have it all sorted by the time the grandsons arrive.
Rob-Bear...just think of the apartment as a cosy den...you will adjust.
SOAC-M, the only way to be able to continue doing things, is to keep doing them...so get stuck in! Isn't the checkerboard flower special...I've never seen one before either. I'm told they aren't common, so I feel very honoured to have had my garden chosen for her new location! I hope she stays and flourishes.
    V. love the poem!
