Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

Loy Krathong

Today marks the south-east-Asian festival of
Loy Krathong.

Beautiful offerings are assembled in little boats created from banana leaves.

In this boat, you put your grievances, recriminations, grudges, sorrows, fears;
anything that is making your heart heavy and sore...

and you release...you let it go...

In Bangkok, you set your offering on a body of water.

In Chang Mai you create a beautiful paper balloon

and release it into the heavens...

You empty your soul of any bitterness you may have been storing there
in order to begin again with a fresh and open heart.

Beautiful no?

  2. I love this tradition. Like the day of atonement, confession, fasting and prayer. It is so important for us to release these negative influences and begin anew.
    Thank you for posting

  3. B-U-tiful! I truly wish, we in the western world celebrated traditions like these...I believe it brings us closer to ourselves and others ...bringing more sacredness into our lives is a beautiful thing.
