Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

A Beautiful Winter's Day

I defy anyone, yes even you Cro,
not to love Winter on a day like today

the sky couldn't have been any more blue if it tried...

the clouds were fluffy and the wind still...

the swan danced on the sparkly lake along with all the other pretty birds...

this is exactly the spot where the lake

meets the river...

and the snow makes the water sparkle.

on up along the parkway

passed my favourite bench...

where I spotted this little squirrel having a nap in the tree...

even this pretty wood pigeon sat still long enough for me to take its picture...

I swear even the cottages were smiling today...

This was a day when the world put on her finest white coat, and her best blue hat, and said
"Look at me".

  1. Delightful images of the Niagara area! I suspect you have more snow that we do.

    1. A bit of a topsy-turvy winter for the entire county Rob-bear. I think my sister in Victoria BC has had about the same amount of snow as us here in southern Ontario...a decidedly odd coincidence!

  2. Those two cottages are really beautiful.

We were offered a choice of weather for last night. They said it would either snow or rain; it rained. Much more convenient, as I have to drive today.

    I like the new pic!

    1. NOTL used to be a holiday location for rich Toronto-ites, so there are many such cottages around town. Lots have become B&Bs too. They are one of my favourite things here.
      Thank you re the picture!

    1. It has been an exceptional winter Mise. Very little snow this year compared with the last two and lots of bright sunny days. By any standards a more than acceptable state of affairs.

  4. Wow Jacqueline...amazing shots. I think I am living in the wrong country...grey, grey and more grey here...with a fleck of snow...that is all we have had so far. Thanks for putting the email box onto your site, I am off to join up!

  9. Absolutely lovely. Are you going to get the warm up that most of us are having? It is nice to see the snow, but it is better if it goes away the next day. Nothing uglier than piles of brown snow.

    1. One day at a time SOAC-M! All the chat about town is that if we have just dealt with January...we have only Feb and March to deal with! Baby steps!

  10. Hello Jacqueline

Only in Canada can one see such big, beautiful cerulian blue skies! I believe this is as a result of the great lakes reflecting into the sky (my humble opinion)
Thank you for sharing and on days like this, well it is just good and precious to be alive.

Thanks again for sharing and thank you for introducing me to Zsa Zsa Bellagio

  12. Gorgeous day Jacqueline!!! Our recent snowy days were all gray and white, which can be very pretty, but can't compare to the combo of blue and white...nothing beats that!
Love that nature was sparkling and standing still for you that day...
    xo J~

(By the way...the bread was a huge success, it's addictingly easy to make and scrumptiously delicious...thank you!!!)

  15. Oh, these snow pictures make my heart sing, as we don't see much snow here in sunny Southern California. These pictures are just beautiful, my friend. The fourth one...oh my.
