Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

B12

Back from the docs today after a B12 shot.
Apparently, my levels were scarily low.

B12 does a lot of very important stuff

Cognitive health

Stability

Strength

Neurological health

Who knew?  Not me...

I had the conversation...
Liver?

Clams?

Marmite?

Doc said...Too little too late...

So...had the shot,
and now it's 1000 mcg sublingually per day for 90 days
and then we see where we go from there?
Well!

  1. You should have more energy as the B12 level picks up. I once gave IM B12 to a man daily in our clinic his blood level was so low.

    1. It's a kind of mystery how this happens Olive...I'd love to know how/why this happens.

  2. I have eaten Marmite almost every day of my life... does this mean I should be OK?

    1. Quite probably Cro...There was a time I ate it regularly too. Not sure why I stopped...you can be sure I'm back to the daily ritual now.

    1. How sweet you are Mise...this deficiency can affect your mood as well. I'm looking forward to lots of lighter, breezier, less sleepy days soon.

  4. Jacqueline....I also have low B12 as does my sister and daughter. Apparently some people do not absorb it from food. We all get shots...my husband does mine once a month while I wail like a baby...I think it is more the thought of him armed with inexperienced hands with a needle than the pinch from the shot.

Hope you get a nice boost from yours.

    1. Had a long chat with daughter #2 yesterday...think she probably has this issue as well. Apparently the sublingual pills are the same as getting shots (ie goes directly to your bloodstream, bypassing the gastric process). So we will see where I am in 3 months. Looking forward to not being so tired!

    1. Can't say anger was one of my symptoms...noise sensitivity which made me snappy was however...might be worth checking John...it's an easy fix.

  7. So glad you have an answer to your low energy and one that is fixable. I have often thought that I should get mine checked - must do it on next visit to G.P.

    1. Definitely do that SH! B12 can really help with what my girlfriend likes to all Happy Brain...
The scary part about this deficiency is all the symptoms appear unrelated, but left untreated consequences can be dire.

  8. magnificent post, very informative. I'm wondering why the other specialists of this sector do not understand this. You must proceed your writing. I'm sure, you have a huge readers' base already!

  9. Hello Jacqueline

I am happy you have solved what your body needs. I think we could all benefit from this vitamin.
I am sure your Dr check for thyroid which also can have the tired syndrome.
    Happy Valentine's day
