Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

Who Are You?

I am the left brain.
I am a scientist.  A mathematician.
I love the familiar.  I categorize.  I am accurate. Linear.
Analytical.  Strategic.  I am practical.
Always in control.  A master of words and language.
Realistic.  I calculate equations and play with numbers.
I am order.  I am logic.
I know exactly who I am

I am the right brain.
I am creativity.  A free spirit.  I am passion.
Yearning. Sensuality.  I am the sound of roaring laughter.
I am taste.  The feeling of sand beneath bare feet.
I am movement. Vivid colours.
I am the urge to paint on an empty canvas.
I am boundless imagination.  Art.  Poetry.  I sense.  I feel.
I am everything I wanted to be.

 I'm 60% left, 40% right.

Who are you?

    1. While I'm not 'maths' inclined...I do like routine and order and logic and language and words are my thing...but then again there is art and poetry and imagination. I think I definitely tip toward left!

  2. Looks like I am with Raz,although I wish I was more left, although thinking more I am happy to be who I am.

  3. Being a Criminal Psychologist for many years I was definitely more left brain dominate, but now I know I am changing. I would say I am now 40% left and 60% right (and changing constantly).

    1. I love your notion of being fluid Vanessa...why DO we have to always be only one way!

  4. Think I would probably have to go with Chania as well.

    1. With your gift of growning things Molly, can't say I'm surprised.

  5. I am a Bear trapped in a Human body, still trying to figure out right from left, and how much of my brain is human, versus Bear.

Yes, I do live a complicated life. And, by your standards, I am transitioning from left to right in my brain. In fact, I am drawing on the right side of my brain more and more in my art work, and in other things. My right has been too long denied!

    1. Bravo Rob-bear...why should we have to stay one way for ever? Good luck with your transitioning!

  8. Good job I'm a logical left brain...right John? It hasn't been a party..I will tell you that, and haven't blogged about it, but we have a big, big meeting with the docs next tuesday. Fingers crossed for us please, not sure where this is going.

  9. It's worth remembering our Latin. Right=Dexter. Left=Sinister. It works for many things. I have to be totally RIGHT; dexterous, dexterity, etc. (with just a weeny bit of LEFT)

  10. Wow Cro...that makes me 60% sinister!
I know I definitely come up short on the dexterity side....need to do something about that!

  12. First I have to tell you that your header image made me gasp. Secondly,I adore this post. I, too, am about 60/40 - maybe 50/50 even. You know how you can take all those cool brain tests. I always come out nearly even. I often find myself pulled in two directions, actually. maybe that's why.

    1. Hopefully you gasped in a good way Relyn!
I get what you are saying about the brain tests. Whenever I do the one about the spinning woman, I see her going in all kinds of directions.
Being pulled isn't so bad...keeps life interesting!

  13. Hi Jacqueline. I love the images. This is a great question. By nature I feel I am 80% right brain. Life sometimes demands otherwise and those left brain money making and money managing items call for more time. I am strong in maths and feel I probably would have made a good architect.
    Wishing you a great week
    Helen xx

    1. Interesting response from an artist Helen. I sometimes think, if I had it to do all over again, I would love to have studied industrial design...the perfect blend of both sides of the brain, don't you think?

  14. Hi Jacqueline, have been away for a bit...but this is interesting... I think I am definitely right brained, but I do like organization and numbers do not elude me to terribly much... It would be a good thing to have this investigated more thoroughly, fun.I know, I wish now, I had majored in fine art, but instead I went into medicine..go figure! Great post, hope your hubby is doing well, N.xo

    1. i was beginning to feel very lonely Nella as most were erring to the left! I try to encourage my creativite side through cooking and taking decorating my home, but feel the backbone of my life is organization and words.
Now if only I had your proclivity for numbers! I'm trying with Khan Academy videos to fill up those maths holes in my knowledge.
Hubby is on the mend...thank you for asking.
