"a most troubling dream last night. We had gathered as a group of the usual suspects for a get-together and a dear, close friend showed me a meal she had prepped for us to share. It was a skinned, stuffed rabbit, but somehow as can only happen in dreams, it was still alive. The terror in the animals eyes as it lay there trembling is still sitting heavily on my chest this morning. As I drink my coffee, I search for the meaning in this message of the night. I have to believe something so vivid, so visceral carries importance. My wise sister tells me that we are all of the characters in our dreams, so perhaps part of me is that helpless, terrified, fragile creature. Food for thought."JP
thank you brown dress white spots for all the lovely pictures.
Oh dear....you will be worried about that bloody rabbit all day now won't you?
ReplyDeleteJust a little bit John...perhaps it was reminder that I have to take better care of myself?
DeleteIt seems as if something was happening to the rabbit that was beyond both his, and your, control; but what it all means is beyond me. I wish you a sweeter dream for tonight.
ReplyDeleteNot overly worried Cro. Will check in tomorrow if things develop!
Deleteoh dear I hope that "characterization " is not true..I can never sleep again otherwise.
ReplyDeleteNot overly worried OGM. I know life weights heavily on my heart right now, so I think this is just my inner mind's way of dealing with it all.
DeleteThat sounds like a horrible nightmare. Like Cro says - sweeter dreams tonight.
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet Molly...I will wrap myself in your blanket of care tonight.
DeleteAs long as it's not a recurring dream, I wouldn't worry too much. I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight--maybe you could try reading/watching something upbeat before bed? Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'll let you know tomorrow Jennifer!
Delete(Read this in an Austrian accent): Hmm. I sink zex is involved.
ReplyDeleteReally Tom? (in no particular accent).
DeleteDear Jacqueline, funny, both my sister and I have had troubling dreams of late...of course we both fret and ponder and surmise terrible things......my own take on it is similar to yours.....I would be the rabbit! N.xo
ReplyDeleteI hear tell the new moon is upon us soon Nella...perhaps that's the problem?
DeleteThere are many ways to interpret dreams but here's my five cents (briefly) . . .
ReplyDeleteYou have these components -
Cooking
Eyes
Friend, (sounds female? not sure)
Rabbit - an animal that is hurt
Skin
We can break the dream into three categories
1. conventional interpretation
2. psychological interpretation, which goes more fully into the likely significance for the dreamer
3. spiritual interpretation
Cooking
1. preparing nourishment or to be satisfying a hunger, whether ours or another.
May not be a physical hunger, but something more subtle.
2. To be able to move forward in our lives we may need to blend certain parts of our existence in new and original ways in order to succeed. We may need to nurture a new ability.
3.Cooking can symbolize creativity. There is a fable which tells how God baked the various ethnic races into being.
Eyes
Any dream to do with the eye is to do with observation and discrimination. It is indicative of enlightenment and wisdom, protection and stability. It has a connection with the power of light.
Female friend:
If a female friend appears in a woman's dream there can either be a concern about her in the dreamer's mind or she (the dreamer) needs to search for, and find, qualities belonging to the friend in her. A friend is often representative of an aspect of the dreamer's own personality but often one she has not yet fully understood.
Rabbit - hurt
When we dream of animals they usually represent an aspect of the personality which cannot be properly understood except on an instinctive level.
A hurt animal - the dreamer may perceive a difficulty in facing life right now.
Rabbits in dreams can mean one of two things, the obvious connection with fertility could be important or it could be that the trickster aspect of the personality could be coming to the fore.
Skin
Skin in a dream stands for our persona or the facade we create for others
Now Sis you have to put it all together !
Lots to contemplate here V. Will discuss further with you via e-mail. Thank you for sharing this.
