Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

J. V. inspired me with this, this morning:

Right now we are in a different time with a different order of Leadership...the old ways don't work any more and some people are still clinging to them.  The backward thinkers of this world cannot see this or perhaps are scared of the changing ways...For the 'Good of All' and selflessness, is taking over from self-interest and cynicism, even if it's taking a beating on the way.
Companies today will only survive when they serve with courage, authenticity, service, truth-telling and love, because those companies that do are reading the needs of our society in our world that is changing at an incredible speed.
Breaking ground takes an incredible amount of courage.  To be a leader, the one at the front means taking the first hit.
Bringing passion and meaning back into work, will inevitably bring it into this world.

This gives me hope.

  1. Fine words and a fine picture, J. I only wish I could summon up enough confidence in the current leadership to even dare to mention the ideals upon which they were elected in the first place, as you have done so eloquently.

  2. Amazing! My husband is attempting this week to convince others in his business to take this care and to serve, to have compassion and a have a major paradigm shift. I think he needs to read this, it's perfectly timed...thank you!

  3. Keep the faith...Tom, we had an earthquake here in Canada today. I choose to believe this is the Universe's way of shaking things loose.

My husband too Jessica, within his business, is trying to change the way things are done. It's what I love best about him.
They are our new order of leaders, yours and mine, ready to take the hits and carry on.

  4. I so hope you are correct. I'm so tired of the "CYA" mentality of business & lack of service (not the "kiss the ring" type, just genuine caring...)

  5. ...yeah the times are a changing!
The old rules are no longer working...I read this today and it pretty much sums up what I want to give in my work...
Each day I will work to create comfort and nurturance, learning the new ways, the ones that reach out with different communication skills...ones that are less strict and more conciliatory as if I've been listening deeply and well.
    Listening deeply and well.

  6. My husband read yours and V.'s post and actually wrote them dowm...such perfect timing! Both really touched his heart. Thanks ladies! xo

  7. That's wonderful wonderful he's going to carry the message on.

Go on...make my day...
