Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

Niagara on the Lake's Cake Parade

J.  So here is how Niagara on the Lake celebrated Canada Day.

A bakery in town called Willow Pastries donated this super-huge cake...

that looked just like the main street in town...

which was paraded down the main street in town...

led by our very own fife and drum band.

our Lord Mayor, Gary to everyone, handed out flags

from the back of this great old car...

and everyone turned out...suitably attired!

They took the cake to the park where it was cut and handed out to all the kids!

We also had a superb firework display, but I didn't take any photos, so much nicer to sit with my husband in our open-air car, by the edge of the lake and watch the show over our heads.
Wonderful!

  3. V and I have been a little schizophrenic about our blog design. I think we have settled on this one...for a while anyway!

  4. Your fish cannot get enough food. I was feeding them an hour before my router broke by overheating. Looks like a great day for everyone. The only thing stopping me from emigrating to Canada (like all the other over 50s in Britain) is all that bloody RED colour. Can't you tone it down a bit?
