Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

Gratitude

"...so I failed this part, but I truly do believe that any one

blog written with absolute honesty, no hidden agenda, and

with a genuine outstretched hand of friendship and sincerity

is a blog of substance."

Suzan, at The Old Grey Mare posted this, this morning as part of
her understanding of being "a blog of substance".
Like her, part of the reasoning (aside from Dear Sister's insistence)
of doing this, was my utter failure at
keeping a journal.

When we began this blog, a friend was very confused by the need for it.

It was difficult to explain.

I'm still not sure I can adequately describe the
pleasure, enjoyment, interest derived
from talking to you all each day.

The things I learn, the beauty I share in,

the conversations that have become part of my day.

Thanks to everyone for sharing this part of my life.

  1. Beautifully expressed blog-love sentiments! There are a few people in my life that just don't get it either and it is hard to explain...must be a kindred-blog spirit to understand I think! Well I am thankful for your faithful blog friendship Jackie...you and your blog are always a comforting highlight in my day, thank you back! xo Jessica

  3. Jacqueline,

I too have friends and family that do not "get" the blogdom. 2 years ago I would have not understood very well myself I'm afraid. Now, I have to be careful to keep my blog world in balance with my real life. Or I arise from sitting here with a sore neck and stiff knees.

But oh the dear precious friends I have made. How do you explain that to someone who cannot possibly imagine how quickly we connect here?
I was discussing it with one of my far flung friends and came to the conclusion that the friendships here do not come with, or carry the baggage that accompanies "real time" friendships.

Jealousy, different backgrounds, social standing, appearance; all that is absent and so are hearts are more readily open to share ourselves, to not be hesitant or fearful. And we are blessed because of it.

  4. I can't say I disagree Suzan...but what a sad comment on friendship in 'real time' when it is thus quantified.

My friend, the one who didn't get it before, sent me an e-mail after reading this post and told me she does now. It meant a lot.
