Beauty in the Ordinary

This is not about being brilliant, or extraordinary, it's not about wanting to be famous, or making headlines, or trying to impress...this about sharing a 'gift' each day with the world...to lift the spirit of people when they read this blog, to show them the beauty in the ordinary.
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." Raold Dahl

  1. Reading is something everyone should do on a continual basis. Are you a fan of Carol Shields?. My favourite book ever is Larry's Party.....

  9. This book is one of my favourites. It's on it's fourth reading as we speak. It is the tale of the author's journey at 50+ to give up her life in the US and move to Venice to marry Fernando.
It's romantic, but also honest, and well-written
di Blasi is a chef/foodwriter, so the heart of the book centres around food.
Suzan, if you are a romantic, love food and Italy...I know you will enjoy this book and then want to read about her subsequent moves to Tuscany (A Thousand Days in Tuscany), and then Orvieto (The Lady in the Palazzo). She also wrote That Summer in Sicily and has just released a novel called Amandine which is on my list.
Just my opinion, but it's important to read them in order to understand the growth of di Blasi and her relationship with The Stranger.
